WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT
Most mothers who have booked a family session with me, will almost always ask
What should we wear?
I love helping with this and I have a few tricks up my sleeve
to do just that!
CHOOSE A COLOUR PALETTE
I like to suggest choosing} 4 colours to work with. Neutrals and soft colours are the easiest to style cohesively
bold and bright colours can be distracting and stand out too much particularly in the natural environment I
tend to photography in. Find one outfit you love and build the rest of the families outfits from there. If you have
a patterned outfit you have chosen, you can pull colours from the pattern to put into other family members
outfits.
PATTERNS
I suggest that if any patterns are worn, only one person wears a patterned outfit, the rest wear block colours
hat compliment that patterned item. Having to many patterns mixed together can look distracting and busy. If
you decide to wear more than one patterned item, I do suggest being similar colours, or one having a really
subtle pattern.
ADD SOME TEXTURE
I love when families add textured clothing into their styling. I personally enjoy knits and wafile fabrics, linen, lace
etc. Adding texture really adds to the character and adds interest and depth to your images in a casy and
effective way. Sometimes its nice to think FLOWY to, skirts, dresses with some cute ankle boots!
PLEASE BE COMFY!
While we all like to look amazing, it's important to wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable & beautiful as
well. This is where you will shine bright in your images and feel more comfortable during your session.
TO BE MINDFUL OF
A few things to be mindful of, things that can stand out in a negative way through images, are things like:
Thongs, flip flops, bra straps showing in fitting tops/ dresses, sunglasses and caps.
